Sketch Auktion 7,62

Art auction at the Fleischmarkthalle

On April 25th 2014, drawings and sketches by artists living in Karlsruhe will be auctioned at the Fleischmarkthalle on Schlachthofgelände, the area of the former municipal slaughterhouse. Starting bid will be 1 €. Art history professor of the Karlsruhe Academy of the Arts, Prof. Dr. Rainer Metzger, will be hosting the auction. All works will be presented in an exhibition before the auction.

Doors 18:00, auction at 20:00. The auction will be accompanied by a selection of Live Acts. Afterwards you can groove with the best the Karlsruhe DJ scene has to offer.

After a 2 year break UND is announcing with this event their comeback in time for the city's anniversary 2015.

For seven years UND# - platform for artist-run initiatives - was run with increasing popularity. During this time UND# enabled artist-run initiatives to present their work to a broad public. Furthermore, during the 6 days' length of the exhibition, musicians, poets, and performing artists enriched the cultural face of Karlsruhe.

Since the organisation of an event like UND# is an exhausting work which requires a lot of energy from the organizers and voluntary helpers, we decided to skip a year in 2013 in order to recreate, reflect on our experiences and design the next UND.

The big success

of UND#7, which was curated by a jury for the first time, encouraged our will to continue. Affirmed by the high number of applications by initiatives, the positive feedback from artists as well as the high number of visitors encourage our motivation. We were able to dispense with a participation fee, setting us apart from most satellite and off-scene fairs, which enabled the participation especially of those initiatives that are working in art radically different without having arrived in the art market yet or are not even interested in doing so.

Staff wanted

We are looking for volunteers who would like to support us and help with the organization and execution of the next UND. Students from the fields of cultural studies do have the possibility to take their practical training or internship with us.
