About Us
Objectives
Since 2006 UND# art fair offers a platform for artist-run initiatives and temporary art projects that enables them to present, network, and to give their works a discourse.
UND# was initiated as a community project by artists from Karlsruhe, who realized their idea of an autonomous free space apart from the established art market in an area of about 600 sqm in a former supermarket.
History
Since then UND# was run anually on the same dates as artKarlsruhe art fair. Within the first years it has grown to be a trailblazer in actively connecting independent art spaces, in Germany and around Europe. The six-day exhibition offers to artist-run initiatives and projects of the so-called off-art-scene the chance to exhibit their work to the public, engage in networking, and show collaborative projects. Exhibition venues change every year, and exhibitors are asked to work in visual dialogue with the particular spaces and rooms, which makes for interesting experiences both for artists and audience.
With the participation of poets, musicians and performance artists UND# emphasizes crossover and inter-disciplinary approaches to making art, thus being more than a conventional exhibition project.
